Download & Installation FAQ
Quick solutions to common issues encountered during setup.
Why does Windows/Antivirus flag Avidemux as “Unsafe”?
This is a “False Positive” common with open-source software. Because Avidemux binaries are not always digitally signed with expensive corporate certificates, Windows SmartScreen may show a warning. As long as you download from the official links on Avidemux.net, the files are 100% clean and safe to use.
Do you provide a 32-bit version for Avidemux 2.8.2?
No. Starting from version 2.7.x, official development has shifted exclusively to 64-bit architecture to support modern video codecs and high-resolution 4K processing. If you are on a 32-bit system, please refer to the Archive Section for version 2.6.21.
What is the difference between the “Installer” and “Portable” versions?
The Installer (.exe) sets up Avidemux in your Program Files and adds shortcuts to your start menu. The Portable (.zip) version can be run from any folder or USB drive without modifying your system registry. Both versions offer identical features.
